Did you have fun with Fall Fortnight? In this post, I will give you a bit of a round-up of some other ideas from previous fall inspired projects with free patterns. For some readers, these will be new, for others a reminder of project maybe you’d like to make but didn’t get to yet. Decorating with fall season quilted table toppers and wall hangings gives a cozy feel to almost any room. This arrangement is on the formal dining table that we rarely use anymore. The topper is the Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along project for 2021 starting HERE ...

The next two weeks will be a flurry of Fall Fortnight Fun! I have two new projects with free patterns for you, a new recipe to try, a pretty table to get us in the mood for fall, and a couple of surprises. The best news is that my affiliate sponsors have all agreed to provide prizes for the event. We will start today with the first project. Since we only have two weeks, there is no time to waste!
Let’s dive right in! Here is the first project, a fun table topper or wall hanging. You might recognize ...

February was the month of love and even though Valentine’s Day has passed, I decided to start with this as my first block in the pattern...in February…but first:
I like to read patterns. I like to pore over them and note anything unusual and since I’ve mentioned the like-hate relationship with paper piecing, I look for tips and suggestions to make it easier for my brain to process the piecing of the units.
I opened the PDF of the pattern to read, and as I was going through I started thinking that ...

A couple of years ago I made a baby quilt for my neighbors at the apartment complex—their little girl Charlee is adorable. It was a version of “eat sleep play repeat” that I made for Max several years ago.
Now they have Waylon—and I wanted to do something different. I saw the Moda fabric line “ABC…xyz” by Stacie Hsu and thought it was perfect for a little boy. I ordered the panel and some yardage.
When it arrived, I put the panel on the design wall and stewed over ...

Interesting design, but disappointing colours.
Blocks in this project file are all from the Electric Quilt Library.
Another interesting design, and the colours are more interesting than the first. Amazing what adding more green leaves have done to the colour scheme, though still a bit washed out.

It felt incomplete to hand down bumper pads and a crib skirt with no quilt, so I dug out the leftover nursery fabrics and scanned everything into Electric Quilt in preparation for creating a layout.
There was enough of the main print in the collection to feature prominently in the layout, although I was bothered about having to build out each fabric image to get to a 9-inch block size.

I can’t believe the Scrappy Celebration QAL is almost over. It is like putting together a puzzle and getting down to the final pieces. Happy but sad and what to do next. Thought I would share some of the pics from both color options of my quilts here.
My original quilt is the perfect combination of summer sherbet colors, but for the QAL I remade the quilt with Red, White and Blues.
I thoroughly enjoyed picking out fabrics each week for blocks.
Keeping a pile of my bits and pieces so I could pull some of the sizes I ...

Nive one, with lots of room for quilting.
Changed the scale of one block to make more piecing of smaller pieces, removed some coloured sashing, and the effect is much daintier.

Fast forward to their 30th anniversary and I am honored and proud

I am a newbie to using the quilt design software, Electric Quilt. To play with this I started adding a variety of nine patches, four patches and any similar block. I fell in love with the mathematic look of the quilt and knew I just had to make it.
All images in this ...

I’ve got my Derwent Inktense 24 box of pencils, a few stiff brushes, some plain white fabric (PTD prepared for dying), freezer paper, and water/aloe vera gel/textile medium and I’m ready to play.
For those of you not familiar with these color pencils, once they’re activated with liquid and dry they become permanent. Unlike watercolor or regular color pencils, these pencils ...

I started s project file with blocks from the Electric Quilt block library, modified some of them, and played with them. Eventually I got sick of using them in straight settings, and tipped them on point in a new project, and I love the results.
The second design is interesting, but my favourite is the first one, more for the colour placement than the actual layout.

Blocks are from the Electric Quilt library, with a few modifications by me. Love the first one.
Love the second one too.

The flowers have taken over and are dancing all over the garden!
The settings used in this project file are based on pieced blocks which use just squares and rectangles. I have built up a collection of the blocks for use in Electric Quilt just as quilt layouts. I should use them more often.
I don’t think I look as pretty as this when I dance around the garden trying to keep warm at the moment.

Today’s designs make use of a feature of Electric Quilt which allows us to use a feature which will turn any block diagram which uses squares and rectangles into a quilt layout.
I love the second design!

Interesting!
I started playing with the block in the side borders in the Serendipity feature of Electric Quilt … EQ did the rest!

So this is the last Project Quilting challenge (season 13)for 2022. As you know the challenge quilted project can be anything (from a quilted coaster to a full sized quilt) but has to be done (start to finish) during the challenge week. It’s amazing what quilters can accomplish.
I don’t have a lot of time this week, but I really wanted to make something simple so I don’t miss out on participating this week.
I used my Electric Quilt 8 (EQ8) computer program to quickly design a doll quilt/table topper with a strip of flying ...

Also pretty!
Cannot pick a favourite pretty one though!

Love the design despite the colouring (I don’t like blues) but I can also see this design with the blocks in the centre diamond with added colour pieces.
Love the second design as well. Smaller, but with some added contrast amongst the quilting.

I like the first design for today. Almost too busy, but with soft contrasts compared to most quilts, and most art work of any kind.
I like the second one too.
Interesting use of colour and contrast placement in the third design too.
All blocks are from the Electric Quilt block library with some very basic modifications, so if you have EQ you could reproduce these designs.
